Best ideas for 3 week trip in Mexico

Going to be in Mexico City and Acapulco for a few weeks. The Koodo add on is not large enough for what I need to do. Is it better to unlock my current Koodo Motorola X Play and get a sim from a carrier in Mexico, or get a smart phone in Mexico. Data and messaging and calls internal to Mexico are more important. Any thoughts on the subject are welcome.
When I get back home I can just insert my old SIM and be back in business right?

Either would work. I would choose to get my current phone unlocked, as I am familiar with its operation, and there would no issues with language installed on the phone, and all my favourite Apps are loaded.

You can find a third party unlock service which will unlock your phone quite inexpensively.

Yes, you can simply put you Koodo SIM back in the phone on your return.

Personally, I think a few dollars to unlock your phone would be better and cheaper than buying a whole new phone. You can find relatively cheap unlock codes on ebay. Just look at the reviews and find a reputable seller.

And yes, when you get back home you would just insert your Koodo sim card and be all good!
