Best bang for your buck is probably the HTC M8 given it comes with $100 gift card if you purchase it online

The M8 is a great phone unless the camera is really important then the Moto X Play is the phone you want. The M8 is also 32bit and nearly 2 years old so it won't see any updates past the next one Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Moto X Play has a 64 bit processor but is noticeably slower at heavier tasks. The M8 is much better performance wise such as loading games and streaming video but simple Tasks such as Facebook or loading Web pages there isn't much noticeable difference between the two.

Other things that are better on the Moto X Play are the display and battery life and it will also be updated for the next year minimum which is always great when buying a new phone.

Audio wise they're about the same volume wise even though the Moto X Play only has a single front facing speaker but the depth of sound is better on the M8. As far as audio over the 3.5mm headphone jack I'd give it to the Moto X Play, it has some of the best wired audio of any device Koodo carries IMO.
