Yes and it uses very little data as the data is highly compressed. On average it uses 2-5kb per message, so 500mb a month should be plenty.

However if you are on WiFi it should use that over the mobile network, so no data will be used (very handy if abroad and wanting to avoid roaming charges) - KID ANDROID ( TEAM.ANDROID.CANADA)

No because i currently have one of their old plans that costs 35 dollars where i get 150 min plus unlimited incoming and unlimited texting and i added blackberry social and i was thinking of switching to their 45 dollar promo with 300 min 500 mb unlimited incoming unlimited texting. The only difference is I would lose the per second billing, but I would be gaining the free long distance. Is this a could trade off considering they are both the same price

Personally I'd keep that per second billing if at all possible. If you're not getting overage charges regularly right now (or its manageable), it might be better to stay with what you have. On the other hand, if you're getting hit with massive LD charges every month now, it might be better to switch, it really depends on your usage habits. Making the switch from per second to per minute is a pretty big deal imo.

So your losing the per second billing and BB social, your wondering if the 500mb of data would cover the use of both of the bbm and social use I'm guessing?

If your gf has a blackberry as well, the new BBM supports voice calls over wifi. You guys could talk for free all you want as long as you're both on wifi. If you decide to stay on the per second plan, this could really help cut down any LD charges you're seeing now.
