BBM plan only, but charged for other data.

I have a BlackBerry with voice and the BBM plan (no internet). I recently switched models and am suddenly getting hit with data charges that I never received on my old model. It now allows browsing on the network, which the previous one never allowed. We don't use the browser so I am assuming that the device is sending out status updates and other stuff. How can I get all data shut off completely with the exception of BBM? If I turn off data on the network via the device, BBM won't work, so I can't use that as an option.

If you have a BB10 device like the Q5, data is done differently that the traditional blackberry device.

The old devices you can get BBM, etc separated from normal data.
All new BB devices uses data like all other smart phones. Meaning any app that uses data (like BBM) will be charged normal data fees

Thanks. If that is the case and BBM data and regular data cannot be separated, then how much data does the $10 per month that I have been paying for BBM give me?

It depends on the pay per use data on your plan. Go to self serve and see if there's any overage data for your plan. If not, then you will have to call into Koodo to ask (*611 on your koodo cell, it's a free call)
