I currently use Blackberry touch and on Canada wide double promo56 but I want to change to the new promo plan which has 5GB. However,I noticed that if I change it, I will loose my BB APN Access. Is this gonna affect my BBM, BIS or blackberry usage in any way?

Thanks
Onyx

Make sure the new plan you want is the BlackBerry version of your plan. There is a drop-down that allows you to select this when you're changing plans.

If you don't choose the BlackBerry version you won't be able to access those special features you mentioned.

Thanks for your reply Chad but there's no BB torch in the drop down options. It only states Bold and Curve, then BB10+,Android,iPhone and others

Yup, choose the bold, curve option

It just says that because that's all Koodo ever carried.

Well, I may not be able to choose that cos it has lesser GB and fewer calling minutes than the other option. But thanks for your help anyway

So... to clarify... I only need the APN if I'm using a BlackBerry? If I switch plans with an android then I'm fine and don't need the APN to run the android version of BBM???

Yes, the BB versions of plans are only needed if you're using an OS7 or earlier BB. The plan will actually work with any other phone but not vice versa.

The BB version of the plan will work on Android so you don't need to change your plan. I have the kept BB plan in case i need to go back to my Curve. It works fine with no issues on my Android and my Z10 for over a year.
