asked for porting when ordered service, porting no longer an option.

I ordered service online to switch from PM to Koodo and asked for porting but my phone number is no longer active, will a new one be automatically assigned to me in lieu of porting ?

it expired since I didn't fund it. I don't mind not porting my number but wanted to know if a new number would be automatically assigned when I get the sim card.

When you activate you should have the option to port or to select a new number
