Ive ben looking at getting a new phone and I saw one at the local Staples and the price seems to good to be true. And you know what they say about that.

Its called Sky Devices 5.5 Octa
Specs
1.3Ghz Octa Core CPU
3 GB RAM
16GB storage
Dual SIM
8 &16MP Camera
5.5 inch FHD screen
Android 6

For $150 (on sale normally its 200) Now this seems like a lot of tech for low price. Ive tried searching online for more info but its very scarce, the company site seems kinda dodgy, they say their huge in Latin America and that their owned by the third largest cell company in the world (but dont say who that is which tickles my BS meter just a bit)

Would anybody here have any experience with this companies phones? Id believe what the users here have to say before some review by a guy who used the phone for 5 minutes or got paid (seems to be all the reviews I can find)

I haven't personally but they are well known in Central/ South America. They are kind of like Blu. Low cost phones and decent specs for the price. I wouldn't expect the best quality (just average) and don't expect updates. You can check reviews to see as well.

I managed to track down some customer reviews for their phones and they are not positive. 39 bad reviews on Amazon almost all them about how after a couple days the charger stopped working or the phone just dying within 2 months. So suffice to say I wont be buying Sky Devices phone any time soon

Some peoples brought it from Kijiji, or where else, may already have problem before peoples sell out, I brought three of them in Brand new from Staples for $199 plus Tax, so far, it is very good, I insert a 32GB sdram and make the 32 GB sd card as a default write disk, any apps i downloaded from the Play store will automatically goes in the sd card as well, It does not slow down the 16GB internal drive at all, I am very satisfaction of the SKY Elite model, phone are kinda fast, I am happy with it with the prize i paid for, only what I think the Sky needs to do better with the battery capacity tho.

That's fair. Blu phones appear to be similar/ better for the price and I do have experience with them. They tend to be reliable at least. Other options include looking at the used market like on Kijiji or Facebook buy/sell groups for a slightly older phone for a good price. Xiaomi phones are also great for the price. You get them from sites like gearbest, geekbuying, etc. Just FYI there's is no warranty support in North America. You'd have to ship it overseas if there's an issue. A couple of us mobile masters have bought them anyways. And they're popular import phones. Asus Zenfones are usually on sale with Best buy and they're great phones but you're looking at 400-500.

I ended up buying a K4 2017 since at least with LG you know its gonna be decent quality and for $100 you cant go wrong. now I just gotta figure out how to get the $20 activation bonus. I switched the sim in self serve but its not showing the 20 in my account. Do you have to activate with new # for the bonus?

Yeah it's a $20 activation bonus which means you get it when you first activate the account.

They need to fix the disclosure on the box since it doesnt say its for new accounts only. Just says you get $20 when you activate the phone. Somewhat misleading lol

New account = new number = $20 activation bonus but your old minutes / data balances get tossed to the wind. Any such changes on prepaid are best done when balances are as near to zero as possible.
