I would like to have a greeting . message that people hear when they call and I don't answer, but do not want them to have the option of leaving a voicemail message. Is this possible?

Well, why not jut tell the people on your greeting message to not leave you VM. There's no way to have the greeting without the voicemail option I think.

Or don't clear your messages, this way your voice mail box is full and they can't leave messages

I use my phone for business, and want clients to hear instructions on how to contact me (by other methods)if they phone and I don't answer, but I don't want them to have the option of leaving a voicemail because I don't want to have to return client calls / inquiries in that manner. leaving my voicemail box full doesn't look professional, and simply instructing them not to leave a voicemail doesn't mean they wont. It seems weird to me that there is no option for this.

Ok, so we didn't know that you use your phone for business. :-) And agree leaving it full is not the best to avoid other message to be left.

The challenge is that voicemail is a service that is the same for all cell phone companies. It's either on or it's off. You can't have just a greeting message and nothing else. Not yet, but maybe someone will develop an app. :-) I totally get what you want just don't know how to make it happen. :-)

You could always record an Extended Absence Greeting. I completely forget what number you have to press, but it's in the menu. Basically after you record that greeting, it gives you the option to not allow messages to be deposited. I have mine on all the time simply because I hate having to check my voicemail. ;)
