What phone do you have now and what plan - Does it includes data?
Phone/SIM upgrade doesn't effect your plan.

If you have data on your plan, yes you can start using data!

If you already have an account and plan setup you can just activate the sim via selfserve.

Login to self serve and upgrade your SIM, then restart your phone.

Or cut the sim card if you have a dummy that you can use to carve the correct size. Not recommended for beginners, but certainly a savings opportunity for enthusiasts.
