Activate plan - have my own sim

Hello,

I have a new Koodo SIM and an unlocked ZTE WF710 (wireless home phone). I wish to activate on the $5 month plan. Can I do this online or by calling in? There's a Koodo store one town over, but I'd prefer to activate from home.

I have an account login as I used to have cell service, but it has been cancelled. The account does have a credit balance, so it would be great to use that.

I don't think you can activate it over the phone, since Koodo needs to perform a credit check. Your best bet is to visit the store, they'll set you up :)

Not being able to activate over the phone has nothing to do with performing a credit check. Other providers can do it. It is Koodo's choice to not do it.

I don't think you can just simply activate the SIM on the $5 plan 1year promo over the phone, they want to put some restriction of the WHP SIM. Otherwise, everyone just call in with a free SIM and gets $5 plan.

As you said you had previous account with Koodo, I would suggest you orer online or visit a Koodo store and let the agent help you.

I am updating this thread in case someone else has the same question I did. I was able to activate over the phone. I already had a new sim card and unlocked wireless home hub. The agent did a secure online credit check and activated the service ($5 WHP). The account details were emailed to me as we spoke. I was able to log in and confirm that everything was setup as agreed to. They even applied my old credit balance to the new account.

The Koodo rep did a great job and it was convenient for me to activate the new service from home.

A special WHP sim is not required. However, given that my account is provisioned for WHP service, the sim will only work in a WHP hub, not in a cell phone.
