Activate phone

Good evening.
Earlier today we bought a new phone, and we were told we would have to wait approximately 2-3 hours to start making/receiving calls. If the phone wasn't able to make/receive calls after that time, we were to call the office. Unfortunately the phone has not yet worked and the phone number we were given sends us straight into voicemail, as apparently they closed shop for the day.

Is there any other way to activate our phone?

Thanks.

Hi Sebastian, just a quick question. Did they activate the phone for you when you bought it? Or does it not have a sim card inside? Also make sure to go to settings and have your phone's network mode set to WCDMA/GSM.

Is it a phone with a monthly plan? What store did you buy it at? Unless it's a prepaid phone it should have been activated at the time of purchase. Were you transferring from another phone company?

It is a monthly plan, and yes, I was indeed transferring from another phone company.
They did activate the phone at the time. Sim card is inside the phone.
Incoming calls go straight to voicemail, and when I try to call someone else the call drops automatically.

Thanks for the prompt answer.

Ok then try the settings part I mentioned. Settings>mobile network settings (or something along that line) > GSM/WCDMA

Would that be 3G on the iPhone? I can't seem to find "GSM/WCDMA"

Have you tried to reboot your phone?
