I recently was given the Nexus S from a friend and would like to switch to using that phone from my current phone which is a Samsung Galaxy Ace.
I have put my sim card into the new phone however I am having trouble connecting to the Koodo network to make phone calls. I would just like to know how to go about having that activated.

Thank you!

is the nexus s unlocked from it's previous carrier? (If it wasn't a Koodo Phone, then it would need to be carrier unlocked for it to work with Koodo).

Other than that, you should just be able to slap in your SIM and away you go... (make sure that your APN settings are correct as well if you want to use data)

Nexus phones are unlocked by default so that isn't the issue. Koodo also sold the Nexus S at one point so it is compatible.

Try power-cycling your Nexus S by removing the SIM card/battery and wait a minute. Put everything back together and see if it works.

Does your old SIM card still work when you put it in the Ace or another Koodo phone?

Also make sure that the nexus s isn't set to gsm or 2g only.
To use data you'll need to configure the apn settings, which can be found at

Hi Michelle,

In addition to the above answers, can you also check to see if the Nexus' network settings is set to "MANUAL" or "HOME" ?

If so, you can switch it to "AUTOMATIC" network selection. You're friend may have had it set on a manual network selection.

Should work if you try all of the above suggestions....

Where was the Nexus S from?
T-Mobile & Sprint got different versions that won't work on other carriers.
