I was wondering if it's possible that two people can have the same cellphone number. I've been having calls from people looking for a Dillion. I also received a call from a man today saying that he was returning my call but I never called him, I don't even know him. Yet he claims my number was on his caller ID.

Hi Monique, there is something called "number spoofing", which is when spammers or scammers use a computer to call people, while using a random number as their caller ID.

Unfortunately this is rather easy to do, and once my husband had to change his number because he got hundreds of angry people calling him "back" to complain about him calling them with spam and even obscene phone calls... obviously he never did!

I would imagine something like that might have happened to you, let's hope your number will not be used again :( There is very little you can do about it :(

When I was first setup I was very picky about my number. They were able to give me one that I wanted, but for some reason it was a number that was already being used and it was a Telus customer.

What would happen was that I was able to call and text out, but the the Telus customer received all the incoming calls and texts.

Of course what Sophia said above also sounds like a distinct possibility

Hi Monique, as per Sophia's advice, you should indeed change your phone number. This can be done easily and for free online via Self Serve. Once you're logged in Self Serve, click on "Mobile Phone", then "Change number".
Thank you!
