Hi, could someone explain to me why when I'm looking at phones, it says "use your tab" and it knocks off $178 of the retail price. Except for iPhones, where it knocks off $500? Thanks

This is retail price shown is the ammount you would pay on the large tab with new activation. If your tab is in the hole then this ammount you'd pay more.

To make it appear more attractive, the iphone 5s does not have a slider to adjust how much tab you want to use. It automatically assumes you are using the Tab L which gives you a $500 Tab. Of course this comes with a $10 monthly tab contribution and you would have to select a Tab L plan

Does that mean you can only purchase the phone on a Large tab? Or are they just advertising it?

They are just advertising it. You can use a Tab S or a Tab M or even buy the phone outright if you choose

The best value is not the Large Tab, that's for sure!

Just had a thought. Since Apple basically dictates the price, could this be a way to appease Apple? It's not being advertised for more than any other carrier anymore, and is being advertised for a few dollars shy of Apple's price?
