Ok...so...I want to purchase a phone online...The LG G3....with the tab, I owe about 26 bucks to buy it...I try to use my girlfriend's credit card but it won't let me...I don't have a credit card and our address is the same. So, I choose another phone, the S4. Now I have to pay 0.00 now but I still can't buy it because of the credit card thing. So, question 1, why can't I use her card? I realize it's a different name on the card but the billing address is the same, both on the Koodo account and the card. Question 2, if my balance owing at checkout is 0.00, why do I even need a credit card?

Because your name isn't on her card.

The phone isn't actually free so they have to ensure a billing address actually exists. Since the card will decline with the wrong name, they can't verify your address.

You're going to have to goto a kiosk or retailer

They don't seem to have a problem when I use her card to pay the bill.

The problem is there is a fraud protection system in place, you cannot use this card to purchase a new phone. Even if you don't like my answer, it's still the truth.

And Tbh you shouldn't be able to pay your bill with it either. But people don't often pay someone else's bill with a stolen card.

The automated system might let you, but if you call in to pay your bill with someone elses card they will say no to you as well.

I didn't say I didn't like your answer, Chad. :(  What I don't understand is why a 5 year customer who has paid off 2 phones on the tab and never missed a payment, now requires a credit card to upgrade my phone. I've done it at kiosks and never needed a credit card....and assuming the internet works the way I think it does, Mitchell, isn't buying a phone on the website automated as well?

Either way, gentlemen, I thank you for your time and if you'll excuse me, I need to go find a kiosk. :)
