These recent promotions (like the 15% tab or the $50 gift certificate for new plans) certainly attract new customers, but they can make existing customers feel under-appreciated and even ripped-off. Why not have the 15% tab rolled out to all existing customers? I bought a new phone 17 days ago, and thus am stuck with the 10% tab. Why should someone who bought a new phone 3 days after I did be able to pay off their tab 50% faster than I can? There's a sense of unfairness here, and I imagine I'm not the only long-time customer unhappy about this.

Attract new customers but keep the existing ones happy as well. Please consider applying the 15% tab for all!

If you got the phone 17 days ago then presumably you signed up for a plan that were less expensive than the ones you can choose from now. You can change to the more expensive plans and get the 15% tab, but that likely wouldn't make sense.

Yes Timo, that's how I understand it as well. I got the Nexus 4 which hasn't changed price, so basically by buying the phone 3 days too early it will take me an extra year to pay off the tab.

You can upgrade to the more expensive plans. :-) I'm not sure I understand your beef. :-)

As a Koodo rep explained to me, I could go buy a new phone today and keep my old grandfathered plan and still receive the 15% tab. So unfortunately I bought the phone too early. There's the beef...

If I was to switch to a new plan today, I'm not sure what would happen. My feeling is that I'd still keep the 10% tab, since this is what I agreed to when buying the phone. Am I wrong? This latter part is confusing. But you're right, no sense changing to the new plans which are far worse than the one I have now.

If you were to switch to a new plan you would get the 15%. But as I mentione that may not make sense, it depends on how you use your phone.

we only have 5 and 2 voting for both 15% for all initiatives up on koodo community on his and my thread respectively and thats probably not enough to be redflagged for koodo HQ

If you look at my thread, it current has 9 stars on it. Let's get it more stars and show Koodo there IS a better way.

I wrote to Koodo yesterday about this and they just wrote back, informing me that I'll have the 15% tab starting on my next billing cycle. Looks like they're listening after all! We may not see a roll-out to all customers, but if you ask you just may receive!

Koodo - you're alright... :)

@ JC C: The Nexus 4 is still $300 (or $150 with small tab), the same as it was before the new plans. This is also $60 cheaper than what Google sells it for directly ($360). An excellent price for a high-end smartphone.

The difference between 10% and 15% is also about $2/mo. for me, but after two years (when the battery is shot and I get a new phone), the difference adds up. With the 10% tab I end up paying $50-$60 to clear the remaining balance after two years, whereas with 15% the tab is gone.

@EditThis: Yes still on the $39 plan that was offered a few weeks back. 450 min, 600 MB data.

Awesome, I also am on that plan. I MAY follow if I get the 15% and purchase Nexus 4. Since S4 was what I wanted but out of my budget.

@MikeO
The Nexus 4 is a good phone, but I was pretty much going to buy the s4 from koodo within this week, at least that's what i thought before they raised the price. In the case of S4 I most definitely will pay more under new tab.

S4 Old price $625 with old tab 10% $150 limit, avg $4 a month tab contribution @ 2 year :
up front cost = 625 - 150 = 475
residual tab balance @ 2yr = 150 - (4*24) = 54
total $529 paid to own my phone with 0 tab balance @ year 2

S4 new price $725 with new tab 15% $150 limit @2year:
up front cost = 725 - 150 = 575
no residual tab at year 2
Total $575 paid for the phone. Even with the auto tab wipe at 2 year, the up front cost alone is more than total old price that i had to pay

S4 new price $725 with new tab 15% $300 limit, $5 tab charge per month @2year:
up front cost = 725 - 300 = 425
monthly tab charge = 5 * 24 = 120
no residual tab at year 2
Total $545, more than old price.

S4 new price $725 with new tab 15% $500 tab limit, $10 tab charge
up front cost = 725 - 500 = 225
monthly tab charge = 10 * 24 = 240
Extra money spent on tab large plan, which is at least $25 more, which I don't need = 25 * 24 = 600

The $600 extra monthly fee alone is more than all the other prices, the extra feature for tab large plans such as unlimited 8am-5pm minute are totally useless to me or anyone with full time job/school.

Conclusion, new tab is a rip-off and koodo think their customers are stupid

Hey there Mikeo,

I am happy to let you know that when you reach $0 on your current tab, and you have earned positive tab. The positive tab is transferrable to any new plans with 15% tab.

Now, you may be eager to know how you can increase your tab to $0. Well, if you refer just 6 friends, your tab will go to $0. Plus, you can keep referring until you max it out to +$150. Simply, go to Koodoreferral.com to get started.

However, you’re limited to a maximum of five successful referrals per calendar year.

And you prolly lose the value of your 24 month tab clearing.

I thought you put an 'idea' through this Denis. Didi you hear back from koodo? And you don't lose positive tab after 24 months, only what you owe is wiped not what you collected. It would be stupid if they did wipe positive tab.

@Chris.
Yes I have worked something out with koodo.

-What I meant is that if the your tab would be -$70 after 24 months then your tab would be cleared to 0.
-However if you got 3 referrals that kicked in at 23 months then after 24 months your tab would be +$5
-However if you got 3 referrals that kicked in at 25 months then after that your tab would be +$75

One month makes a huge difference. It seems like people are "penalized" with losing their clearing amount if they have referrals. Now note that I have asked this specific question in multiple area with no confirmation of this yet, but I anticipate this is how it will be.

Most people might not be thinking 24 months ahead but I am a long term planner as you can see lol

MikeO, now that i think about it, the guy who bought a new phone 3 days after you did has actually paid lot more on the phone and plan that you did...if you do all calculations you'll probably see that even if you have lost anything it isn't much...

i bought my new phone on july 10, and yesterday i found out the price of the same phone was up by 17% !

I understand what you are saying.

However, the price of the phone that I got about two weeks before the new Tab kicked in has *not* changed. So your argument doesn't work there. :-)
