Looking at purchasing a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact which has two models: D5833 & D5803. Which one would be compatible with the Koodo Mobile network?

D5833 - Networks

UMTS/HSPA+ 850, 900, 1900, 2100 Mhz

D5803 - Networks
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 700/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600

The D5803 would be your best option.

Telus/Koodo uses the 1700 band so that would get you lte connectivity.

Did a quick google search for "Koodo Frequencies" which brought up this Wiki page that said "Koodo Mobile's CDMA and HSPA networks use the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz frequencies while their LTE network uses 1700/2100 MHz (AWS)."

Being 1700/2100, wouldn't both phones work as they both have 2100MHz? Just the D5803 has both frequencies, which would get me better signal? If that makes sense..

Hey Anthony B,

Both phones should work on our network and neither of them will have a better signal over the other. Hope this helps.

Following up on this, I'm not sure the answer is very accurate; While the z3 will work on Telus/Koodo 3G and LTE networks, will the xperia z3 compact work on Telus/Koodo 2G networks? The z3 compact doesn't have a CDMA antenna, and Telus/Koodo network 2G runs on CDMA 850/1900 bands. Am I missing something, or does the Telus/Koodo 2G network NOT support z3 compact?

Telus/Koodo does not have a 2G GSM network. In Canada, Rogers is the only provider that does.

Hey you're right! Mobile services provided by Koodo use Telus Mobility's CDMA, HSPA+ and LTE networks. CDMA devices, however, have been discontinued by Koodo outside of Northern Ontario and Manitoba.Koodo Mobile's CDMA and HSPA networks use the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz frequencies while their LTE network uses 1700/2100 MHz (AWS).

Should have done my homework a little better, thanks Ray!

Wish I would have known both of the phones would work before I sent it back lol. eBay seller agreed to do an exchange, they took the phone back and refused to send the other model. eBay won't help me either. Got my bank to issue a back-payment which forced PayPal to give me my money back. Think I'm going to buy directly through Sony now.

Both do not work in full.  The D5833 will NOT have LTE on Telus/Koodo.

The D5803 is required for full functionality.
