"the sim number you entered is not valid"

Hi,

I just took a promotion from Public Mobile to swap over to Koodo and I've received my Prepaid SIM card in the mail. During self-service account creation when entering the SIM card number, it keeps telling me that my 19 digit code is not valid. I've checked multiple times and I am entering it in correctly. Any ideas?

Was the promo to Koodo prepaid or postpaid? The SIMS and self-serve activation sites are different.

Hey Bob,

Based on what Dinh has told me, it seems like it may be post-paid due to the reasons he listed. Good catch! I guess I will wait for the activation email now if that is indeed the case. Thank you for responding!

@Eric: If you port from public mobile to Koodo following the promotion, it is likely a koodo postpaid plan. You would need to wait for Koodo activation email. If you activate yourself, you would likely get error and have to contact Koodo again to reset.
By the way, did the SIM work? have you tried it in your phone?

Hey Dinh,

Thank you for your response! Okay, that sounds about right. How long do I typically have to wait in order to receive an activation email?

The only reason I thought it was prepaid was because I received a "Welcome Letter" that said I needed to create a self-serve account and no where did it mention an activation email.

The SIM was normally activated before it reached you. Have you tried the SIM in your phone and see if it work? also I would suggest you check all folder of your mailbox (junk/spams..).

If for some reasons, you didn't see the activation email, you could send message to Koodo facebook to avoid the wait on phone (with your order number HFO... and ask them to activate yours).

Koodo doesnt mail out prepaid sims. You also cant activate online a postpaid sim. It will either come activated in the mail(probably) or you will have to contact Koodo to have it activated if it isnt(very rare).

Make sure you set up your self serve account through the email link that Koodo sends you for your postpaid self serve plan.
