"Searching" for service

Phone has been stuck on "searching" for service for hours now. No "carrier" comes up as there is no service. Physical phone is fine, works with others SIM cards. It was fine one minute then lost service!! I cannot call as there is no service. I cannot manually connect to network because it says "network unavailable" WHY. This is the holidays and I need help. What is wrong with koodos service?

It would be more helpful if you can provide your phone type, your location so someone could see if there is an outage there. Also, pls check if your account is in good standing.

It's possible that your Sim card crapped out if other sim cards are working in your phone. Can you see if it works in another phone? I'm gonna guess no but try it if possible. I'm not aware of anyone on the Telus network not having service, although that's just people I know.

I'm sorry but sometimes it happens. Your best bet is as soon as a Koodo kiosk or retailer is open to go get it replaced. In the meanwhile, it's not the best alternative, but you could register for Fongo and get a number to use for free temporarily while you are on Wi-Fi to place calls. It costs a couple bucks a month to text or Text now does the same but texting is also free but quality isn't as good.

My phone does not say "no service" indicating service was disconnected, it only says "searching" confirmed my account is in good standing. Phone type is iPhone 5, area is Hants County NS

My phone now will not recognize any SIM card in it. Only says "searching" is this a phone issue? Do I go to apple for this or Koodo?! I've had my phone for exactly ONE year with no damage.

Could you go to General --> settings --> reset --> reset network settings. Also turn off the phone and turn it on again. Hopefully a simple reset will work.

For warranty with iPhone, Apple is the place to go.

I have reset the network settings, I have airplane mode, I have turned off, removed SIM card, and done a hard restart. I cannot do anyone with a manual carrier search as it says "network unavailable" I am trying to figure out if I go to a kiosk or to apple. both are far away from my area!

I do not know if it is a network/SIM card issue of if it is a hardware issue at this point. Trying to see if it's an apple issue or Koodo issue.

If it worked yesterday, without any problem and you didn't damage your iphone then it could be a network issue. Have you seen someone with telus/koodo around and check if they have the same problem.

I have checked with someone but they are 20minutes away from my location, however they have service

Then your problem might be related to the SIM card and not the phone.

Check your address on this cell tower map and see if any towers are close to you.
I have a feeling there aren't any close and that's why you don't have service.

I have never had a service issue, in my home I am centrally located in a town. I do not see a link to a map

If I no longer have Telus cell service in my house, in my town, I will have to switch carriers, something I Really do not want to do!

We haven't known the exact cause of the problem yet. Telus (and Bell) coverage seems to be pretty good. If you can, try to meet someone at koodo store or at apple store, then they might be able to check the hardware for you.

At that point I would recommend going to a Koodo store and buy a new SIM card. If it's the problem is not solved, then the next step would be Apple. But please do it before your warranty expires
