Koodo phone support can't help you with apps, Ellen. What phone do you have? Do you see the texting app in the app drawer still?

No. That's where I deleted it from.

Can't you download it again from the app store?

If you deleted it from the app drawer than you will have to re-download the app. Although if it was the default messaging app that came with your phone than you should have only been able to disable it.
To re-enable it:
Settings, General, Apps, Locate app and tap on it, click enable.

What phone do you have? If it's the stock Samsung (or LG, or whatever) messaging app, it will be a system app, therefore not removable. It will just be disabled. You can perform the above steps to enable it again.

If it's a pixel device, then you can just download Android Messages again from the Play Store.

There are many SMS apps available via Play Store.

I think the first questions are...@OP Is your phone an Android? If yes, then is your device rooted?

IF you're not rooted:

  1. Go into Settings>Apps>Disabled and re-enable your SMS app, then reboot phone
  2. If step 1 fails, factory reset phone

IF rooted:

  1. Did you force-uninstall the SMS stock app with an app remover? If that's the case, you'll likely have to re-flash the phone (quickest solution).

If it's an iPhone, I have absolutely no idea how that works.

On iphone you cant delete the messaging app since only the default messaging app is usable (no third party messaging apps)
