[Galaxy S5 Neo]change clock format on lock screen after nougat update.

Since my phone updated yesterday to Android Nougat, the clock on the lockscreen is showing up in two different rows for the hours and minutes in the format of
07
15
PM

which is incredibly frustrating. I can't find any settings in the lock screen menu to fix this. Does anyone have an idea on how? I just want the time to be displayed on a single line.

unfortunately that is the standard way the clock is display in Android Nougat.  I agree that it's ugly, it reminds me of the way that Motorola phones display the time.  Your best bet would be to download a new Clock app.

With the Nougat update, you get Samsung's Theme Store. On your device, go to: Settings > Wallpapers and themes. The Theme Store offers a variety of free and paid themes. A new theme will allow you to customize the layout of your lock and home screens and add a new look to app icons. Some themes include a lock screen clock that displays on one line.

If not already registered, you will have to create a Samsung account to be able to download themes, icons or wallpapers.

But if I change the theme, it changes a lot of other things on my phone's display that I don't want changed.  I just want a clock I can read at a glance.

I found a few on Zedge recently, under their Widgets category.  Try that.

The clock is fixed by a later update. My wife and I (S5Neo's) received another system update on Friday Oct. 20th. The clock was returned to the horizontal format.

This upgrade is horrible!
Who's brilliant idea was this to make the clock look like this...honestly.
Such an idiotic format.
So disappointed with Google.

This is so incredibly frustrating, I am having the same issue. I have tried downloading a dozen different themes/wallpapers without any luck. None of the "preview" of the different themes shows the lock screen so I can't tell if it will show the clock in a different format until after I download it. DOES ANYONE KNOW A THEME THAT HAS A LOCK SCREEN CLOCK NOT IN THE STACKED FORMAT?

I'm with you!! So frustrated by it! It's our dann phone and they are controlling our lock screen??? It's BS. You can't even post a photo of your kids..or anything really, without those 4 horrid numbers covering your wallpaper.....not cool Samsung. Not cool at all!!

Tried and tested on both Galaxy S5 Neo and S7, running Nova Launcher. It doesn't matter whether you run Nova Launcher or Samsungs' TouchWiz, theme settings remain intact even when switching between the two launchers.

Below is just a short list of themes that have horizontal clocks. I'm not a fan of the vertically stacked clock either.

MIUI Dark - Cameron Bunch
sd-Black
[invaser] Carbon (Green) - invaser themes (other colours available)
Midnight Blue - Prapas Chantavali
Black Layers Theme - Prapas Chantavali

Thanks, downloading a new theme worked - but even the free ones seem to cost $2-2.50? But worth it to me to get rid of the stacked clock! And improve the icons too which were also horrible after download.

Try downloading Zedge, then going into their Widget category, they have a bunch of normal clocks available
Every one I've tried shows horizontal clock in the preview, but is the horrible vertical clock when installed. Damn.

Is there any way on the s5 neo to change the clock yet without downloading a theme? I HATE the stacked clock but like my theme. Nothing hat I have tried has worked except a different theme

All you have to do is go to:
1. Settings
2. Lock screen & security
3. Clock & Face Widgets
4. Clock Style

The 'app' is called ClockFace and supports devices running Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung Experience 9.0. and offers a variety of new clock faces that you can set separately for both Always On Display and for the lock screen.

The app is not available through the Galaxy Apps store. Instead, you’ll need to side-load the app from a (trusted) third-party source, at your own risk.

The S5 Neo, as per the original post, recently received Android N. I doubt the device will see Android O anytime soon.
