Why is the iPhone ridiculously overpriced in Canada?

The iPhone 6 is only $200 in the U.S. So why is it $600 more expensive here? I understand its crossing an international border, but why so much more? Anyone who could help me out?

It's $200USD for a 2 year contract under the highest subsidy. With Koodo, on the highest 2 year subsidy the iPhone 6 would be $275

The notion that iPhones cost $200 is what allows carriers (US and CA) to charge through the nose for their plans. People, iPhones have NEVER cost $200. There is a huge subsidy attached. Outright (their true sticker price), these puppies go for $650+.
