What to do? 4 phones, one plan?

Hi, I am looking to get my entire family on some sort of plan. My thinking: To buy 4 iPhone 6 phones and bring them to Koodo. Primary use: texting/ phone/ limited data use Very limited data to no data used as they will be used in wifi zones most of the time. However, Texting and calling is a must away forth wifi zones of course. What do you recommend? Phone and Text plan only on 4 devices? Options?

How much calling do you need? With the iphone you can always change the APN to diable data use but still allow for picture messaging (MMS) so you wont have to worry about data leakage if you only want wifi only

How can I change the APN to disable data use but allow for picture messaging?

Settings>Cellular>Cellular Data Network Just change the APN under Cellular Data, Visual Voicemail, and Personal Hotspot. I personally just add the word No Data in front of the APN

thanks
Not much calling. Really texting between devices. 4 family members in 4 different locations - we need to coordinate. Some in Wifi some not in wifi etc.

Have you checked out prepaid? It may be the cheapest option. Also talk and data boosters never expire as long as you keep renewing your base plan. the catch here is that you would prolly need to get your iphones direct from Apple which is a large upfront cost. However over 2 years it is really worth it

I agree with Dennis. If you don't need much calling, then prepaid might be better. $15 base plan give you unlimited Messaging ($60/mo for 4 lines plus Booster when you need it. http://koodomobile.com/en/on/plansandboosters.shtml You can enjoy unlimited family calling if you get postpaid plans under one account. But it will be $31.50 with SIM only discount per line ($126/mo for 4 lines) even if you pick cheapest plan.
Yes, the 4 individual iPhones from apple would cost a bit upfront but over a couple of years would all balance out I figure. So I am leaning toward 4 prepaid plans with some booster add ons. Phones primary used for texting only. Very limited talk time could be covered with boosters that don't expire and data use would be 95 -100% in wifi zones - a booster could cover that as well. So the $15 based plan gives a phone number? I would need to get 4 sim cards - what is the price of those? Thanks

4 prepaid sims cost $20 each but come with a $20 activation credit. $15 includes your number, voicemail (will need a talk booster to you can call and check from a land line), and unlimited texting service to anywhere but only if you are in Canada.

In the long run, you will pay less with prepaid plus buying the iphones from Apple instead of doing a monthly plan and get an iphone on a tab
