Water Damage :(

I've only had my phone for less than 3 months. I dropped it in the toilet, does anyone know if there is anything koodo might be able to do for me? I'm not sure if I have the extended warranty.

No, water and physical damage is not Covered under warranty. If you just dropped it into the toilet just now then take the back off and battery out and dry the outside with towel and put it into zip lock bag of dry rice and let it sit over night. Really though do you even want to use a phone that's been in the toilet? Id just call it a loss and grab a new one. *Do not try to turn it on until it's been dried this way* What kind of phone is it?

If you've got laundry to .do put the bag on top of (not inside) the dryer.

This is why I always recommend customers get Applecare+ for any iPhone.

I have "good" news for you. You're sort of covered. Apple will replace your water-damaged phone for $270 plus tax. Set up an appointment with your local Apple store (if there's one nearby, otherwise you'll have to call in).

So what's the verdict Rebecca, did you get it to come back to life or was it too late for the rice trick?
Unfortunately I was impatient enough to wait out the rice trick, so I paid the 269 + tax ($303) to get a replacement phone .. Expensive lesson learned.

Good choice. I wouldn't advise using a phone with severe water damage like yours when the battery is non-user-replaceable due to safety concerns. $303 isn't cheap, but it's a lot better than paying full price. I really wish other manufacturers would offer a program like this. At $269, they're still not taking a loss on the phone that they give you and it helps build brand loyalty.

ProTip: If you're klutzy like me, don't use your phone while on the throne 😉

Next time you buy a new iPhone (not refurb/repairs) please get AppleCare+. You'll be very thankful you have it. It's tough to pass up on 2 incidents of physical and water damage for $79 each after a $100 deductible. Plus, they have to give you the same model or higher.
