Text messages going to old phone

I just changed service providers to koodo from bell via a number port to my new samsung which is working fine call/text/data.. My old iphone from bell is still receiving text messages intermittently. (These messages do not go to the samsung )I've noticed the text that go to the old phone are sent from iPhones. I activated my samsung koodo phone about 5 days ago. Keeping the old iphone off is not an option 😉 Help?!

If you don’t have access to your iPhone Step 1 Go to supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do. Step 2 Log in with your Apple ID and password. Step 3 Select the product you need to de-register (your iPhone, for example). Step 4 Click ‘Unregister’. Step 5 You’ll see the message ‘Are you sure you want to unregister and delete this product?’ – Click ‘Unregister’ again. NOTE: if you’ve got any other iMessage-capable devices registered to the same Apple ID that you no longer have access to, unregister these now. Taken from another site. I looked at apple's help forum and they support this method. I also noticed I spelled "speech" with an A in it. Fixed that up lol

Another option is to go on your iPhone Settings > Messages Then turn your iMessages to off

I was going to suggest that. Maybe I made a wriong assumption here but what if she gives/sells the phone to someone else? once they turn imessage on, they will get her messages.

When you turn it on, you will have to log in with your Apple ID again

And if she doesn't log in to her apple ID, no imessages 😛

It would be nice if the sender had control over choosing to send a specific message to iMessage or text. With Apple its all automatic and turning it on/off or registering/unregistering is the only control they allow

I have turned off iMessage & will post when I know if these steps worked, thank you 🙂

I would beg to differ about the the apps being better on iPhone. I have used both and very much prefer the amount free apps that Android offers over Apple.

To each their own I suppose

(All costs aside) In my (limited) experience I've found the same app on both platforms tends to run more smoothly on Apple devices, but can see the price point and larger screens making a more enjoyable experience for others.
I followed those steps & successfully unregistered my iphone. Now I just have to wait for a text & see.. Thank you & I'll reply if I'm still having the same problem 🙂 cheers

Even if you don't have the problem anymore, post the results anyway. I'd like to know if it worked 🙂
