Sound delay

I'm using an iPhone 4S, and the person on the other end is getting a sound delay when they talk to me over long distance. I do not have any delay on my end. Is there any way this can be fixed?

If you're using speaker phone, don't. If it's long distance it's likely because the Telcom is sending your call over the Internet. So there is bound to be some delay as things get compressed and decompressed. It's not like the old days with switching posts and you'd hear all the clicks as you call was being routed. There's very little you can do about it. Th further you are, the more times your call is being "handled"
