Restrictions on changing plan frequently?

I'm thinking of moving to Koodo and was curious if there are any restrictions on changing Koodo plans as new ones come up? If the details matter, I would be using my own unlocked iPhone 6 phone so I wouldn't need to purchase one.

What I'm really wondering is lets say you're on some plan that is $60/month and provides 1 gig of data + unlimited minutes.... and one day there's a new plan advertised at $60/month with 3 gigs, or more... is it possible to call in and get upgraded? Or are there usually restrictions on these plans.

You can change your plan once each 30 days, so if a new one comes along, you can change to it in self serve. You don't even need to call in.

Note that you can oy change to an In-market plan. If you are on a grandfathered plan and change away from it, you won't be able to get it back

What's an in market plan? Any plan that is advertised and still available?

So it seems like if you're with Koodo, you should be able to always get the lowest advertised / best value package if you keep your eye on the deals in your province?

That's correct Andre, unless you get a phone from us and your on Tab Large, you can't go down to Tab Medium plans until the Tab is paid off

Thanks everyone. I know this is off topic from the main question but does anyone know if I sign up for Koodo online, is there a way for Koodo to cancel my other carrier (Rogers) as well, or do I need to call that in. Thinking it's probably easier to go to a Koodo provider in person for them to do this, but if you can do this online that would be great.

If you port in your number from rogers your rogers account will automatically be cancelled one your number is transferred. You will still need to settle any final charges directly with rogers though.

I'd like to tackle OP's original question. If you're on a $60 per month plan with unlt. talk/text/1 GB data, then all of a sudden Koodo offers the same thing but with 3 GB data, you can only switch to that plan if self-serve allows you to. There may be some limited time offers exclusive to new customers, and in some cases new and existing customers but may require taking a new phone on a tab. In other words, it's not guaranteed that you can switch to the promo plan that Koodo may advertize to attract new customers.
Agreed with Timo that porting a wireless number to Koodo will automatically cut it with the other carrier. If you have any other numbers on the Rogers wireless account, that account will remain active, and will pro-rate the billing according to the number that was ported out. Some goes with a multi-line account with Koodo or any carrier when porting out.

Thanks for that reply, that makes sense to me.
