Hey Atit, International students can get a postpaid or prepaid phone with Koodo 🙂 Please keep in mind that a credit check is required to activate a postpaid account (click here: http://koo.do/LRgn8M to check the pieces of information we will need). You can call ahead or visit a Koodo Store nearby (http://koo.do/locator123) if you have any questions. Hope this helps! ******************************************** If you see a good answer, give it a star.
i went to dufferin mall where there is koodo shop to buy new iphone 6 with tab and i have all proof which need for the credit check but the person at store refused me to give mobile by saying that they are not giving mobile to any "international students".is it fair response to student like us who want to join koodo network?or we cannot join koodo as we as international student?

What kind of ID did you show them? Did they recommend you to get the prepaid phone/plan?

You should be able to get a plan atit. For example there is this thread http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/hi_as_an_international_student_which_documents_do_i_have_to_provide_to_obtain_a_new_phone_plan_thanks Possibly the person working there is misinformed?

I gave my passport,my social insurance card and credit card details. They just refused by saying that we are not giving any prepaid and post paid to international students by saying that international id of your passport is not valid as your country's persons are not reliable.

I did not know, but good for you to point out! According to Koodo's own website then you have what they need. I still think the credit check likely not go through since you didn't have a chance to establish one.
What does that mean misinformed? I wasted my time to get bad behaviour.

I often go to Dufferin Mall Koodo kiosk. They usually have helpful and friendly staffs. I am surprise that they didn't suggest you to get the prepaid phone/plan.

Daniel meant the person working there could of been misinformed. Read on another post similar situation that you can use passport as photo ID and you also need SIN and canadian credit card. Looks like you have 2 out of the 3 and maybe that's why they couldn't go thru with it.
but i have three of them buddy

Sorry Atit, you have a canadian credit card too? If yes, my apologies for misunderstanding

Even if you have all the ID you still need pass a credit check. You might need to build credit history before you qualify to have the tab. Add : You still should be able to get the prepaid phone/plan tho.

When don’t I have to provide my SIN? Some private-sector organizations may ask for your SIN. This practice is strongly discouraged, but it is not illegal. Here are examples of when you don’t have to give your Social Insurance Number: proving your identity (except for specific government programs) completing a job application before you get the job completing an application to rent a property negotiating a lease with a landlord completing credit card application cashing a cheque applying for a video club membership completing some banking transactions (mortgage, line of credit, loan) completing a medical questionnaire renting a car subscribing to long-distance or cellular telephone services writing a will applying to a university or college. http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/protect/provide.shtml
