No, the 4S model that Koodo accepts is an HSPA model, not CDMA. GSM is not the "level" of network, per say, it's the structure of the network and the phones that utilize it. It's basically any SIM card based device, which is considered 2G and up. Rogers/Fido are the only carriers that use 2G, aka EDGE. 3G is HSPA. This is the most common nowadays. 4G (LTE) is an advancement of the original HSPA network. MarcusF, you can actually get CDMA iPhones in the US. I think it's Verizon that does them. There's no SIM card tray. It's so weird...

All iPhones are identical hardware wise. As of 4S and later, all come with CDMA radios. the CDMA radio is disabled by default if the phone is sold and activated by CDMA-only carriers (Verizon, Sprint). There are SIM card trays on VZW phones, and those phones are actually unlocked when activated and outside the US (on GSM networks). You can use these iPhones on Koodo's GSM network (like any other unlocked iPhone 3G and later), but they will not work on Koodo's CDMA network. If your area is CDMA-only, then you cannot use an iPhone.
Okay, my iphone 4s is unlocked from apple...... So your saying it is on a CMDA network then with Koodo? Cause when I look at the coverage on koodo's website, it only says CMDA, and no GSM.

No..... You've been given 2 answers that say the Iphone 4s is HSPA only. Johnathan: Don't confuse people by saying that people can get CDMA iphones. It'll only confuse them.

Jonathan isn't trying to confuse anyone. He's just offering the best information he can.
I am going to purchase an iPhone 4 this weekend. I also might buy an iGlow mod, but it only gives me the option of GSM or CDMA... will one of those two work for HSPA?

You want to always choose GSM model for iPhones when using in Canada.
