iphone 5 no service


Hi. i bought a nano sim card for my iphone 5 last week. the guy at the koodo kiosk said, its active, put into your phone and it will work. i've a unlocked iphone 5. when i insert the sim, it gets reception with LTE and gives an error "ME returned a temporary error" and after a few seconds network signal disappears & phone starts showing "No Service" I tried to go to safari before signal disappears, internet works for a few seconds, but when i try to call someone, phone starts showing "no service" i called koodo customer service center, they said its a sim card problem, go get a new one, same problem on new sim card, called again, they said get another one, got another one today but same thing. if i turn off the LTE, it doesn't get the signal at all, not even for a few seconds. my iphone 5 works fine with Bell, it was a Telus phone originally but i got it factory unlocked. I can't go to store again until weekend because the closet Koodo store is 2 hours away from my town. Not a very good start with Koodo.

Hi arshiesst, You need to setup your unlocked iPhone 5 via itunes before it is usable. Go to the koodo link here and follow the instructions and it should work fine: http://koodomobile.com/en/on/switch2koodo-step-3-d.shtml

It's factory unlocked phone on iOS 6. It doesn't ask for activation via iTunes. But I've tried that too by restoring the phone via iTunes and activated it with Koodo sim card.

Even if it is unlocked and doesnt ask for activation you might still need to update your carrier settings. Note that this does not update your OS and "restoring" does not fix this either. You need to only update your carrier settings so you can use it with your new carrier (Koodo) sim card. Did you follow the instructions in the link? As in Step 5, does your carrier say Koodo ##.#? Mine says 12.0 but the settings may be at a higher version now

Is it possible to try your SIM on different koodo phone!

I wish I could but nobody around has iphone 5 locked to koodo or unlocked.

Visit any koodo store and let them use their test phone, they'll tell you if the problem is coming from your SIM or the phone!, if you're saying this third SIM card you're using - I guess it's something wrong with phone.

Good evening, Having the error "ME returned a temporary error," and "No Service" is normal. The phone will fix itself in a few minutes. Just make sure that your phone is on and wait for the network to pop in.

It shows network for a few seconds and then disappears. I've wait for at least 10-20 mins for network to come back. I'll try again.

K I think it's the sim card. Can you try another Koodo sim?

ok. So since this was originally a Telus phone, does a Telus sim card work? Actually, regardless of the answer I think you need to bring it to the Apple store now to find out what is wrong Sorry arshiesst 😞
Thanks folks. I guess I've to drive 2 hrs one way to get this fixed, either at apple store or koodo kiosk. Not very impressed by Koodo.

If you have a choice I would go to Apple store first since it is their specialty. You might want to make an appointment on their website or you can drop in
