Do we know when iPhone 12 is going to be available on Koodo? Telus is allowing preorders starting on Oct 16th, same day apple is taking pre-orders.

Koodo has always been up to date with phone releases and pre-orders. My guess is it’ll be in the same time as other people.

In Canada: iPhone 12 (White, Black, Blue, Green, Red) – pre-order on Friday, October 16 at 5AM PST (Launch Oct. 23)

Pre-order availability at Koodo’s is yet unknown (but cannot be prior to October 16, 2020)

Hopefully it is at the same time as everyone else.

FYI https://community.koodomobile.com/articles-by-koodo-232899/will-the-new-iphone-12-12-pro-pro-max-and-12-mini-be-available-at-koodo-7800513

Will these pre-orders fall into tab plans that are generally offered by koodo?

The higher end new cell phones are usually used to entice people to stay (24 months) longer via committing to tab plans.

It is less likely to find them under prepaid phone offerings

Yeah. They will be offered under Koodo’s tab system.

Do we know what time the preordering starts?

No word from koodo yet!

Per https://www.whistleout.ca/CellPhones/Guides/apple-iphone-12 pre orders in Canada (Not necessarily koodo)

The iPhone 12 Pro starts at $1,399 and goes on sale October 23 with preorders beginning on October 16. The massive iPhone 12 Pro Max starts at $1,549 and preorders opening up on November 6. The popular iPhone 12 is priced at $1,129 for the base model and available for preorder this Friday (16/10/2020) with release on October 23.

The earliest would be 5am pacific time

The 12 is now available. I just got the email from Koodo.  But it looks like they cost about $40 more from Koodo than they would buying directly from Apple. That seems odd to me.

iPhone 12 Pro 128GB: $1399 from apple, but $1440 from Koodo.

All Carriers mark up the prices so that it can be “discounted” when added to a tab

I would have expected that.  But it isn’t discounted if you put it on the tab.

Tab Plus:  $648 up front + $792 on tab:  $1440
Tab mid: $1080 up front + $360 on tab: $1440
Tab basic: $1200 up front + $240 on tab: $1440
Retail price: $1440.

At least that is what I see as an existing customer looking to upgrade my current phone.

In that case I would either wait until it is on promo or order direct from Apple.  but in general, Koodo and Telus typically jacks up the price the least in comparison

I find it odd that the price on tab is the same as retail. I would’ve thought that Koodo wants their customers to take a Tab.

Well then I would take a Tab and cancel the next day with an AB number to pay less tax.

How would one get to have an AB number? isn’t it easier to just buy it from Apple AB?

Koodo won’t say no if you call them to change your number, but I have a loophole on the new Self Serve. Are you teleporting for free to an Apple Store in Alberta and back?

Wish I could. But don’t think it’s worth the hassle.
