my plan is 3.5 years old including Tab "S" talk and text $29/m for 0 data, unlim messaging and 200 airtime minutes.
I would like to have a little data to use my FB messaging and iMessaging when out of the house or office (and maybe for a little geocaching!).
Is it worth it for me to upgrade my tab to the new system to get a $30/m plan with 100MB data, and only 100 air OR should I stay with the my current tab system and pay $35/m plan for 100MB and 200 air? (I rarely even use 100 mins/month)
I think my tab is still 'building' towards $150, and so sticking with the old style until I actually hit the 150 max might make the most sense since I don't plan to upgrade until my phone dies (which could take the 25 months it would be before I hit $150 tab (3.50*25m = 88.80 (150-61.20))
So does that actually make my current plan worth $26.10/month ($29 - $2.90 (10% of $29)) and therefore, the data plan I'm looking at worth $31.50/month ($35 - $3.50)?
Did I miss something in comparing apples to apples here? My sweetie says it's a moot point because 100 MB of data won't satisfy me for long...

The choice is yours and it depends on what you really need. If you are on the $29 plus a 10% discount, you can't have the Koodo contribution on your Tab, so your Tab must be +61.20 and will stay at +61.20 until you decide to upgrade. The Koodo contribution is not compatible with the No Tab discount. If you are sure that your Tab is increasing every month, it means that you do not have a 10% discount on your account.
Neither Koodo Contribution nor the No Tab Discount is available with the new Tab : http://koo.do/1JZSLQz and if you do not have the 10% discount on your account now, you won't be able to add it.
To make it simple, it really depends on what you want exactly? Do you want data? Do you want to pay less or nearly the same price with more data/minutes?
If you change your Tab, you'll have access to plans available on the website: http://koo.do/1HRe5Gz and lose the Koodo contribution, if you keep your old Tab, you'll have access to the plans available on your Self-Serve and keep the Koodo contribution.
If buying a new device is not the priority, maybe switching to the Tab is the best option for you.
