Credit score low

Hello, I'm super excited about joining Koodo, I am 18 and have 2 legal id's: my drivers license and sin # that I can bring, am I able still to get a phone payment contact even if my credit score is just started building and it may be low/neutral?

Hey Stephenie. Most likely yes. But no can be for sure. Best bet is to visit a booth and check it out

Hi Stephanie, your SIN is not an official piece of identification and no creditor should be accepting it as such. Do you have a passport?

http://koo.do/1YM8LhV this page on the Koodo site approves for the sin # as a valid id, I do not have a passport

They only accept it for credit-check purposes, not identification

What other piece of identification can I use? Other then a passport, I have my drivers license but what else may I use additionally?

Stephanie -- your SIN and driver's license are fine, I was just pointing out that your SIN is not a piece of ID, that is all. $21/month is Tab Plus and requires you to pick from the Koodo Tab Plus plans

Jeremy. No need to make things confusing.

So a regular tab would be the $15 a month?

Correct. 15 a month on top of your rate plan.

Chad, she called her SIN a legal ID in her original post. I was clarifying that SIN is not a legal ID

What other id can I use in addition to my drivers license (i.e. Birth certificate? Etc)

Irrelevant to her question regarding Koodo. Is all I'm saying.

I would agree with Chadwick that it is likely. Telus accepted me when I was 18. I figure at least the regular tab would be no issue.

Regular tab? I'm looking to get the IPhone SE, with the $100 down and the $21 monthly payment ( would this be the regular tab? )

That'll be the tab plus. I'm just speculating here actually. You could very well still get it. It's definitely worth it to try.

The 21$ per month tab is indeed Tab Plus.

Stephanie. A SIN and Drivers License are more than acceptable to open an account with Koodo. Sorry for any confusion.

Also if your credit is not good enough. Your parents can back you off
(Robert) I live independently and don't have parents to back me up if needed unfortunately. (Chad) I'm glad to know I can use the two to open with Koodo

Hey Stephenie! Just to add on, if ever you don't qualify for a Tab just yet you will have the option to activate and either pay the phone full price OR bring your own phone.  You would be able to use the Tab after 6 months of consecutive good payments (paying your amount due in full and on time).  Best way to know would be to pass by the store and complete a credit check.  All the best!

To add to Melissa's comment - if you can pay your Koodo bill with a credit card (automatic payment), and pay IT on time every month, you will build you credit score event faster!

Although it's not necessary to use a credit card to build your credit. It certainly helps to have one and use it and pay it in full regularly.  Simply paying for bills in general will do so as well.
