Can't make calls in US

Traveling to San Francisco, and purchased 10-day US data add on. Despite this, can't make any calls. In addition, suddenly my phone won't maintain a charge. My wife is having the same issue with her phone. What is going on, and how do we fix it?

Hello David,

Do you have any service? Are you connected to a network? Also, is it only limited to calls or text/data messages also?
It's showing service with AT & T (3/5 circles). I have been able to text, though I have been on the hotel/conference centre wifi when doing so.

And those texts are going though iMessage I suppose?

Not maintaining a charge suddenly for both phones is one weird coincidence. How old are your phone's? How bad is the discharge? How much over how long?

You have 2 lines with us David. Only one has the US roaming add-on. Everything is ok on our with your account. You could try turning your iphone on airplane mode for 15-30 sec and back. Sometimes that resets network settings.

Airplane mode worked! Thanks so much!
Just experimented without wifi - unable to send texts and no data. There doesn't seem to be any service despite the iPhone thinking it's on the AT&T network.

You may need to complete these steps, though usually they are not needed for use in the USA.

Sign into the Koodo self serve website. Add the free “International Voice Roaming" and / or the free “International Data Roaming” add on. Also make sure Pay-per-use International Long Distance is active. Then turn airplane mode on and off. When your phone connects it should be working. Buying any of the Travel Add-ons on a postpaid plan only nets you a savings on your roaming fees, it does not change anything about the ability of the phone to roam. Without the Voice / Text / Data Add-on, you can still roam at pay-per-use prices. See this post for more details:
