Are your phones locked?

Looking to upgrade to the iPhone 5s, but are they locked? If so, is there a way to get it unlocked (I travel quite a bit, much easier if it's unlocked). Thanks!

Yes. If you pay full price you can request the unlock immediately for $35 (better to buy from Apple since you can bypass the $35). If you go on a tab you can request the unlock after 90 days for the same $35 fee.

I always thought that it was more expensive buying an unlocked device... Oh well . It's even 6$ cheaper from Apple (719$) vs Koodo (725$)

Or if you don't want to wait 90days & don't have the money to buy it full price outright, you can get it unlocked within a day or two from CellUnlocker.net for 100$.
I'm curious if with the new CRTC rules, the phones are now sold unlocked?  http://crtc.gc.ca/eng/phone/mobile/infograph01.htm

Correct, all phones must be sold unlocked at that point and all others must be provided with an unlock code for free.

Correction; phones are not currently sold unlocked. Phones sold after December first will be unlocked. You will be able to request a free unlock code at that time for any phone sold prior to that.

Probably should have clarified what "at that point" meant hahaha, thanks Timo.
