Only 2 days into my cycle, constantly in wifi, unless out and about and NOT using my data...how in the world could I have used 95% of my data?!? Starting to feel very ripped off by Koodo!

Go to Settings>Cellular Here you can see the data used and what apps are using data. Turn those off so it won't use data. Apps will use data in the background

Right, and also it matters how much data you have on your plan, Sarah. If it is less than 100MB or even 50, it could add up quick!

Yeap, this has nothing to do with koodo Sarah. It really more about how people use their phones.

It's very much easy to use 95% of your data in a day. Like Sophia said, it also depends on your plan (how much data you have). Also, I noticed that you have an iPhone. With iPhones, it's actually even EASIER to use your data in a day than any other phone because regardless of whether or not you were connected to WiFi, when the phone is asleep (black screen), WiFi disconnects and you use mobile data. This is how Apple designed the iPhone and its dumb but that's life lol. So unless your phone is on 24/7 (literally), anytime its in your pocket or on your desk "asleep", its not connected to WiFi.

Actually, it is. Google it. I've had more iPhones. That's why sometimes you notice when you wake up your phone wifi is off but then quickly comes on.

Uhhh, okay if you don't want to believe it that is your choice. However, regardless, doesn't mean you are actually right. This is how the phone works and a call to apple will confirm it.

Ahmad is correct here and I have had a few iPhones. They do that to save battery life. The only time wifi stays on is if it plugged in too. Some Androids do the same. But they also have the option to keep wifi on

What you could do is go in self serve and see if your data has really been used in 2 days! You'll have an detailed usage of your data day by day.

When music is streaming the phone is not fully asleep so it stays on wifi

Thanks for all of the response. No need to get hostile anyone! I think it's ridiculous that if my app is "closed" that it still draws data. The second I leave any wifi...anything I'm not using is pulling my data! So dumb! So, basically, every app I have I've had set to off in my Settings...to avoid this situation in the first place. The overall...just has not been that way in months past so I don't understand how or why now? Again...thank you...and FYI...you have no idea how many more iPhones you've ever had amongst anyone else on this "support" page/group...so come on...let's all be supportive adults!

I have an iphone Sarah. 🙂 If your apps are indeed closed no data is flowing through.
Not true! I thought turning off my phone and wi-fi would save data and once I turned it back on, there went my data! My phone synced as soon as it found a signal! I still think Koodo is ripping off prepaid customers! I can't afford to be adding data every other day because of this. I'm spending more on data than I am on my monthly service

Nonsense, Taiyewo, I'm on prepaid and it doesn't burn through my data whatsoever. You should look into your phone settings rather than blame Koodo for "ripping you off"... for one you shouldn't set it to auto sync apps, photos etc as that can eat up your data pretty quick. If you need help setting up your phone, tell us what model you have and we'll be able to offer suggestions how to limit burning up data like that - I've done it and so can you 🙂

I have the Samsung Galaxy Ace. I doubt anything will work, but fingers crossed!

Aye, I'm not too familiar with the Ace, but at least it's an Android. Things you should definitely try: System updates: click "Check now" (under Settings - About phone - System updates) and set auto updates to Wi-Fi only. Disable any Google+ or Dropbox automatic uploading of pictures, or set it to WiFi only. Set apps to update over WiFi only. It's a setting in the Play Store itself: go to settings (within the Play Store) and then the second option select "Auto-update Apps over WiFi only" (3rd on the list). That should prevent some unnecessary data exchanges in the future! Oh and lastly, I installed an app called Onavo which tells me exactly how much data I used. I set it to 100MB per month (you can choose any limit really) and it'll warn me nicely when I get close. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions, holler 🙂

*System updates: click "Check now" (under Settings - About phone - System updates) and set auto updates to Wi-Fi only. -I don't have this option available under 'About phone' And as for your suggestion to install Onavo, I apparently have no more memory. And I don't think I have any option available to turn off my wi-fi

Ack!! No memory? I always heard how bad the Ace is, sorry Taiyewo I can't help you much further, I have a different phone. Did you at least check that setting in the Play Store app? If you want to do yourself a real favor, go buy yourself a new phone... Truth be told, the Ace is garbage and I'm disappointed Koodo even sells that phone 😞 Actually Koodo's prepaid lineup is pretty bad these days, they ask way too much for the phones compared to postpaid prices and they don't offer any decent ones at all. If you want a really nice future proof phone, wait for the Nexus 6 and get that directly from the Play store. You can't go wrong with that!

Yup! That was the only thing I didn't have to change. The Play store app was already set. Can't afford a new phone right now anyway.
My data cycle did not reset this month so im maxed out to...
