Rewarding exisiting customers

Last Friday was my birthday so I decided to get a Smartphone and replace the one I had for over 5 years. I heard that you could get a $50.gift card so I thought now is the time. Unfortunately, the fine print said for new activations only. Why? I have been a loyal customer since Koodo started. I have 3 phones on my account and have referred many people to Koodo before the 5 referral reward system they have now, but I am ineligible because I already exist. That is not fair. It put a damper on my birthday and phone purchase. Koodo should give the same privileges to existing customers to keep them and give a bonus on their birthdays! Competition is fierce in the cell market so why not reward the loyal customers before they go elsewhere so they can have new activation rewards?

Existing customers have the option of earning Positive Tab. Referral Credit has been around for quite a while, how long ago did you refer them?
Existing customers DO get access to what new customers get with the exception of the bonus.gift. That is just a bonus for signing on with Koodo. You know what you get with Koodo? Great service. Do you really need anything more than that?

If customers are truely loyal, they wouldn't change no matter what. There are always promos for new customers with any provider. It can be pretty competitive but there are reports of people constantly jumping ship to get these promos which some could deem abuse of the system. NOT saying YOU would do this Kimberley, just a general statement. I do agree that existing customers should get some sort of recogition after a certain time period like 2+ years or something. No matter what? What if Koodo forced you out of your grandfathered plan?

I don't think they can do that? You're on a month to month perpetual contract with no expiry date. They could potentially change that for new customers, but I don't think they can force existing customers onto another rate plan or cancel their service if the account is in good standing. Not sure though, I haven't read the actual contract in years....

Ivan, maybe there is a misunderstanding when I said that. Obviously, if one is forced out of a plan, the loyalty wouldn't matter as the customer in question wouldn't be to happy which is why Koodo DOESN'T force customers out of grandfathered plans as a general practice. I have seen situations where customers are forced out of an older plan mainly because incorrect information was given to the customer.

That was an extreme example to prove my point. Loyalty is earned and loyalty can not only be lost, but it can shift to blind hatred (like my hatred for Rogers).

I share that hatred, Ivan...do I ever...

I'd say five+ years is truly commendable and about as loyal as one can get. Let's not forget about those that have brought this company to where it is today. Without loyal people like Kimberley, Koodo would cease to exist. Just sayin'.
Koodo will not force a customer to switch from a Grandfathered plan.
