Z30 Locked Telus To Koodo

I'm planning to switch from Telus to Koodo. My Z30 is locked with Telus. I heard that it should still work with Koodo without an unlock code. Is that true? Also, are they quick to approve os updates? With 10.3.2 coming out I'd hate to wait for months for carrier approval.

Koodo Mobile is a business name of TELUS Communications Company.

The OS update is sort of a grey area. Prior to 10.3.1, Koodo didn't release any updates for the z30 as they never carried it. But 10.3.1 was the exception. Worse case, keep your old Telus sim around. When the OS drops, put that sim in even though it's inactive and connect to wifi. The update will then appear
Thanks Ry. You think the BlackBerry needs to be unlocked for a Koodo sim to work?

No need to unlock, it will work as is.

Hi Gary, I have the BB z30 here on koodo and it updated Tuesday evening (the 2nd) with 10.3.2.440 if that helps.

You have a factory unlocked one then (ie: shopbb, amazon, friend that works at BlackBerry). That doesn't apply to a carrier issued phone

You're right Ry. I did buy mine from shop bb and it is factory unlocked.

Koodo and Telus phones are interchangeable between networks without the need of the phones being unlocked.

I'd say this is 90% true, I've only had one instance where they didn't.
