I know we have a Mobile Masters program already, which is quite unique but that's no reason not to introduce new goodwill promos. For those that don't know what the Mobile Tester Team is on Virgin: Every time there's a hot new device released, Virgin will choose 5 customers (you have to apply every time) to send the new device to. The customer then has to post 4 Twitter tips per week for 4 weeks. The phone is then theirs to keep. Now, my twist is that you don't actually keep the phone forever. It's yours for a month, then you hand it back to Koodo, who picks another customer to loan it to for a month. And so on until the next hottest device is released. The loaners are then reclaimed by Koodo and sold as previously used devices. Of course, anyone having a loaner would be responsible for any damage to the device. So what would a program like this accomplish? It would make certain people upgrade faster. Imagine having the S4 for a month and then having to go back to your Ace? That would suck. And while the customer may not be able to fork over the cash for the S4, maybe they'd upgrade to an S2X. A while back my car dealership of choice held a customer appreciation event where I won the use of a Saturn Sky RedLine roadster for a week. Handing back those keys was tough. I couldn't exactly afford to buy that car, but the experience made me want a better one and I bought a different one from them soon after.
