do you already have the other phone you wish to switch to, or would you need to buy it through Koodo ?
I would need to buy it through Koodo

Do you currently have an older blackberry or one of the new Z10 or Q10?
I currently have a Blackberry Curve 9300

Yes, you can switch and keep your plan although unless you are getting another BB why you would want to keep the plan? And no, you don't have to pay off your tab.

Ok, there are 2 things that you need to need to be aware of. 1) The current plan you have will only support older Blackberries, so in order to get any newer smartphone (newer Blackberries included), you need a regular, non-BB plan. So, you will have to choose a new plan to accomodate the new phone. 2) You currently have a Tab, which is pretty much like a floating loan that gets smaller with time. Whatever amount Koodo has taken off your original $150 tab can be re-used to buy another phone, down to -$150. Let's say you still owe $100 on your original Tab. That'd give you $50 to put towards the purchase of a new phone. Koodo now has 3 Tabs however. Small, Medium and Large. You can switch to a larger Tab than what you have right now, but it comes with conditions. For Tab Medium, you can get $300 off the phone instead of $150, but you'll pay $5 more each month, and you need a $30+ plan. For Tab Large, you can shed $500 off the cost of the phone, but you need one of the Large Plans + add $10 on top of your bill every month. So, to answer your question, yes, you can. But no, it won't be free! 🙂

The blackberry versions of the Canada Wide Data plans are universal, they will work with any phone. It is only Blackberry data add ons like BB Basic, BB Social or Unlimited BBM that do not translate to non-BB phones.

Oh well, I did not know that! BB is the only platform I've never tried. Thanx for the clarifications Timo!
