Plan Pricing

Userlevel 1
why not have a feature to let people calculate thier price plan with any taxes and other fees if any apply,so they can have a rough idea of thier monthly bill

Wouldn't it be just the price of the plan times the tax rate for your province?

Chris nails it. Thankfully telecoms are getting better at telling their customers what their plans actually cost. Aside from the first bill, which is always funky, your monthly costs should be your plan price + your tax. Is this not the case with you Allan?

Matthew, you are free to upgrade whenever you want as long as your tab is paid off. Also it was your decision to go with a tab.

Matthew that's straying from the topic of the original poster. While i'm sure we'd all love lower prices, the discussion is about the CLARITY of the price, rather than the price itself.

What I ment was the plan price plus tab and HST/911 fee here in New Brunswick as a example of what a monthly bill should look like as an example

Ah, sorry. There are regional differences to billing, and since you didn't state where you were I went with how things were in my region where we have HST ONLY and no other fees.

Hi Allan, Just to give you an example if you decided to buy a phone on a Tab Medium you can choose from any of Koodos plans, plus a $5 tab charge. Keep in mind when signing up you will see a partial month and a month in advance on the first bill. This happens regardless of the service provider. So if you choose say the $60 plan on a Tab Medium you'd have that plus the tab charge (I'm adding the tab charge since you mentioned about the tab in your comment and want to give you an appropriate answer). $60 + $5 tab charge + 0.43 (911 fee) = $65.43 (+tax) per month. When most people sign up they see a period of up to 10 days before their billing cycle resets. So the first bill would look something like this (if you chose the $60 plan) First 10 days - $20.14 Month in advance - $60.43 + $5 tab charge Total - $85.57 (+tax) After that first bill it will go down to $65.43 (+tax) each month. If you have any questions feel free to post on here. Hope that helps 🙂

Sorry for the big rant to explain the first bill, if you check out the link from the FAQ page it should help understand it better, same idea as to what I mentioned but not so dragged out. http://help.koodomobile.com/my-bill/charges-explained/charges-on-your-first-bill Hope that helps too! 🙂

While I'm not able to understand all of your post it seems you think the $5 tab charge isn't fair? Really you had a few choices, Tab S (150 discount) no extra charge, Tab M (300 Discount) $5 a month charge, Tab L (500 discount) $10 charge. If you want a bigger discount on the phone upfront, you have to pay a little more each month in order to pay it off under 2 years. If it wasn't clearly explained to you at the store, that comes down to the salesperson who sold you your phone.

The deal is, you have to pay for the device you use one way or another. You can buy the device outright, paying full price on day one. For an iPhone 5c for example, this would be $550 plus tax. That's fair right? That's the price Apple charges for the 5c. OR You can pay for your device over time by breaking it into smaller chunks. This means you pay a bit up front on day one, then you pay a bit each month until you've paid off the full price of the phone. EITHER WAY, with an iPhone 5c, you'd still only be paying $550, which is the price of the phone. What is unfair about that? $550 TODAY, or $550 over the next two years. It's $550 either way, the same device either way. If staff didn't adequately explain to you how the Tab works, that's a problem. Hopefully what we've suggested here, as well as the following resources, will help: http://koodomobile.com/en/on/tab.shtml http://help.koodomobile.com/getting-started-with-koodo/the-tab-what-it-is-and-how-it-works

If you actually get into the math of it with Tab medium, if you take the full 2 years to pay off your phone, the tab charge will have cost you $120. And the benefit of taking tab medium is you get an extra $150 off of the device you choose, so you actually wind up $30 ahead. And that's only if you don't pay off your tab quicker than 2 years. In which case the tab charge goes away and you save even more. Plus one thing to keep in mind is that if you look at other carriers (Virgin, Fido), they don't charge a separate tab charge, but their plans have that $5 built into them. Which means your still paying it, but with them once your 2 yrs is done your still going to be paying the same price, whereas with Koodo, once your done paying off your Tab the $5 tab charge goes away automatically and youll be saving $5 as opposed to if you were with the other guys.
