Hello Max, The only carrier that offers NFC payments is Rogers partnered with CIBC. At the moment, they are the only carrier who can take advantage of this new technology in Canada. Hope it helps.
Thank you 🙂 do you know if koodo or Telus are planning on offering NFC payment?

There are no plans as of yet. But you never know in the next few years. The technology is super brand new in Canada and Rogers is the first carrier to use it on selected Blackberry Phones. The neat thing about it is that you can use this feature on any Tim Hortons in Canada and other retailers. So far, Rogers and CIBC still have to convince alot of retailers to get on board on it. So it will take a while before other companies adapt it.

It'd be nice to have it in use. NFC tags, from the sounds of it, are beginning to get a great deal of steam behind it in the USA, and having the ability to "tap" something with your phone instead of trying to line up a QR code or Barcode just right to scan can be irritating at times. I look forward to Canada to try and keep up better with these new technologies....Maybe BitCoin next? 😛

I think RBC is thinking about it... see http://business.financialpost.com/2013/03/27/rbc-debuts-touchless-mobile-debit-payment/

Totally agree max because the cost of bringing it in is so expensivr. I believe rogers have spent over 10 million dollars tp be the first carrier to bring it in canada sp far

I've been using NFC a lot lately, but not for purchases. NFC tags are popping up in magazines, and it's an easy way to send contact information and files to others, if they have an NFC enabled device. Also, I purchased a few tags myself and they're beyond useful. In the foyer of my house I have two, I use one when when I leave my home to turn wifi off and turn bluetooth on, vice-versa when I come home. Also have one on my night table, so before I go to sleep I just tap the tag and it puts my phone to silent and updates various messaging applications to "away". Oh, and I use the BB NFC music gateway almost every day. This tech is beyond convenient, and I've been using it for going on 2 years now, the tech is certainly nothing new. Regarding the costs associated with implementation, this is how I see it. It'll be widely adopted eventually. The companies that implement it first are the ones who have the most to gain though. People WILL switch providers/banks for things like this.

Telus now offers this too: http://mobility.telus.com/en/ON/accessories/other_ntnfcsim.shtml Will it be coming to Koodo as well?

Not that I have any knowledge of it but I would assume eventually all the carriers will offer it. Koodo Included. Seems to be the way the world is heading anyway.
Bell has this also, and Koodo better go on the ball also and start offering this.
