How come the BlackBerry Motion that you just sold me can't find Koodo as an available network?

Three things that come to mind:
No SIM card
Non-activated SIM card
Broken SIM card

More details on your experience would help with interpretation.

@James: As David mentioned, have you checked if that new SIM was activated? if you and an existing customer and upgraded  your phone, the new SIM that goes with it wasn't activated. You can use your old SIM in it.

If the old SIM don't fit, then you need to contact Koodo to switch SIM.
