Can I use my 9360 Blackberry Curve as a "hot spot"

when I'm at a cottage and then use my iPad through it? The cottage doesn't have internet access at all but we can get cell phone coverage. Just wondering. I'd have to add one month of extra data to my Blackberry but it'd be worth it to get access up there. Thanks for any advise!

MaryAnn Thompson I don't have hotspot on the phone. Can my phone be 'upgraded' to have this? Can I download the program from anywhere? Thanks again

What version of the BlackBerry OS do you have now? You may simply have to upgrade it which is a slow but mostly painless and automatic process if you install the BlackBerry desktop software on a windows computer and connect the phone with a USB cable. http://ca.blackberry.com/software/desktop/desktop-pc.html

There is an app out there called 'tether' that can accomplish what you are looking to do.

Thank you! I'll check it out.
If you don't have the data connect 100 mb or the 500mb you will by be able to use your device for tethering.

I don't think the phone has the hardware to do it....nor do I have the know how. Maybe we'll look for wifi spots in town and just visit there once in a while to access the internet. THANKS for the help everyone.

A 9360 is capable, but Koodo's 9360's came with OS 7.0 which doesn't have Hotspot. However, if you download the 7.1 update from here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=094366EAA7A4B5D7F9ED227F212B3649 You will be set.

hey MaryAnn! What you need to do is download the BlackBeery Desktop Software to your computer first! Here's the link: http://ca.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html Second, plug your phone into your computer via the USB cable that you got in the box it came with (the piece that sticks into the charger!) Once you plug your phone in, a message should pop up in Desktop Manager that will say an update is available to 7.1. Follow the steps and that will update your software! This may take up to an hour. Once that's done, you should have the option to tether!
