Browsing is not part of my plan and I must access wireless

I just switched from a regular talk/text plan to the canada wide Data Plan 60 within the hour. When I try to access my browser or social networks, the phone says that browsing is not a part of my plan and I must access wireless. Did I choose the wrong plan, or am I missing a vital step in setting up my connection?

could you access data when you had the talk and text plan? If not then chances are you have a data block on your account. You can call Customer service and have them take the block off if this is the case.

If you are using a 9xxx series Blackberry, then you will need to do a battery pull before Data will work. The reason being is there is no way for your device to know of the new Service Books that Koodo will push down, as it only checks this on boot time. Once you are booted back in, you should see the little blackberry icon beside the 3G indicator.
As well if your using a blackberry they need a specific data pack to be able to start using rims network, where others phones you don't. If you find the battery pull does not work call in to make sure you have the right data pack assigned to your phone, it's an easy fix on koodo's end.

Just as everyone stated above, if battery pull and hard reset of the phone does not work. Call in to customer service to ensure that your phone is set to Blackberry Data and does not have Data Block.

why does everybody assume that they are using a blackberry, Did I miss something?

OP didn't specify the phone, but based on older BB's unique access protocols, it was a safe assumption.

BB is the only phone I've seen that will tell you data is not part of your plan. Every other phone would just say there is no connection.

It's tagged as blackberry on the right. Also, the hints about social networking apps stating no data

The tag could've been added by anyone though.

Fair enough.
Thanks so much for your help everyone, I really appreciate it. Going to try a battery pull, then I'll call in about the data block and ensuring I have the right plan as well. 😃
