Why the activation day can't be the bill start day

I know Koodo is not only one doing this. Why you have to wait a few days after activation day to start a new monthly cycle? If the activation day is the bill start day, the first bill will look neat and easy to understand. No explanation will needed to new customers why the first bill will be different. Is it just a convention in wireless industries or the system need time to process and set up everyting for new customers?

I think it's a bit of both. It would be more costly and complicated to have a billing cycle date for each day of the month. Instead, they sprinkle random dates through the month and upon account activation, the system auto assigns you the date which currently has the least # of subscribers on it.
