why do i get charge that much tax...?


Would someone explains me why there is over 9$ of taxes on a 40$ bill...? there's tps (4...$) and pst bc (5...$) it's the first time i have this tax on my e-bill... it's weird... thanks

Tps is 10%
HST is around 12% for bc

Ontario had PST and GST as separate taxes before we switched to the HST.

I believe BC did the opposite, HST first, then split it into 2 taxes.

BC went to HST people went nuts and voted in new Provincial Government (current) that reversed HST back to their old provincial tax system. Ontario took the massive tax hike, did nothing...lol

I dont think so Timo. Provincial sales tax has been in existance long before HST was even a thought. As I said the former BC government brought it in, the Current government, scraped it a year after. It was done by RECALL.

As someone who is decidedly not wealthy, I'd personally hate to live in a tax-free place. Too bad we don't always get the best value for our tax dollars.
