Was the 5 Essentials taken away?


Could not find it once Koodo changed the app, and I was not notified of the add-on being removed. In the past 2 months, my bill has sky rocketed and I have now just discovered why. I could not find the 5 essentials on the website either. Has the add-on been removed?

The add on has not been available for some time now. Customers who already had it would have been allowed to keep it until it was removed by them.

Thank you for your help. On my services, it still shows that I do have the add-on. However, I am not being charged for it. Just didn't seem to find it very fair.

Check your detailed pdf ebill.  It should show if you still have it and you can look back at previous bills to see if there was a change in the previous month

Erin, many of our customer nowadays just pick an unlimited minute plan as they have been very affordable. Looks like you are enjoying that plan too.  As other customers above mentioned it we discontinued to offer it some time ago.

Unfortunately any in-market plan or add-on can be dropped or changed at any time.  But if you have the plan or add-on, Koodo does not take it away from you or change what you have.

I will change the plan to unlimited, but I just wanted to bring to attention that because of this I was under the assumption that the add-on still existed, and that I was being charged unfairly.

I apparently have the essentials, but I am still being charged as if I do not own the 5 essentials add-on.

My apologies Erin! I see that you are actually on a $40 plan with 300 min and 300 mb and also have 5 Essentials which you signed up for back in 2015. The add-on hasn't been eliminated for customers who already had it. That would not be fair. You can certainly change plans and remove the add-on if you no longer taking advantage of it. You seem to be using data as well so I would recommend you looking at plans that include some data.

@Erin, have you reviewed your PDF bill? It will have the fine details of your plan & the calls and other items you have been billed for. If you are using data, a plan including data is exceedingly valuable, as pay-per-use data rates are extortionate by comparison.
