recover text messages

I need to provide a history of my text messages (just the number they were sent to and how many) from May 2013.  I have just broken the phone's screen on the phone I had them all saved on.  Is there a way Koodo can pull this data for me?  Is there a fee?

Alternately, does anyone know if I can retrieve text messages of a Nexus 4 with a broken screen (that I cannot unlock)

You can actual look up this information yourself through self serve. It's under usage. It shows the exact same data that koodo reps have available.

How do you find this info from so long ago? All I am able to get from my self serve is current, past and 2 months ago information.
Messaging is not on each bill either.

Login to self serve, Click View Usage, click on View Details under Messaging. Here you can see logs of who you texted and when for the past 3 months. That's the best that Koodo offers. They do not keep actual texts if that is what you were looking for,
You can search on google, there are some solutions that deal with broken screen and make it detected by computer. SMS recovery need you to root your device first.

I recommend you have a try for [b]MobiKin Doctor for Android, I ever used it to get back my messages.
To recover lost lost text messages from android, you should stop saving new data to your phone and use a mobile phone data recovery app to help, you can still recover them before they were covered.
Some recovery tools can deal with broken Android phones, and you can also recover from your google backup
Try to restart your Samsung device
This is the simplest or even the only action that you are supposed to undertake to refresh your phone. Please press your Samsung’s Power button for approximately 30 seconds, until your device restarts itself.

If the above coping strategy does not work, what you need to do is using third party tool to recover text message from your Nexus with broken screen before sending it to repair store.
