my phone broke but my sim card is still charging, how do I close down my account until I get a new phone?

Log into Self Serve and suspend it. The other option is to cancel but there is no guarantee of getting your number or plan back.
The problem is my self serve account has never worked.

Call Koodo to get that fixed and they might even be able to help with the suspension. If you call from another line and are sitting by a computer, they can make sure you can get into Self Serve. Given the issue you have with Self Serve, they should be able to suspend the account with no hassle and go over options to get a new phone.

Keep in mind that even though you suspend the account you'll still have to pay your bills.

I just suggest that you buy yourself a new phone or get one from a friend so you can still use it while searching for a new phone. Personally, I wouldn't close my account for 1 week, you would loose your current plan (if it was a promo plan). Look out for the Moto G, pretty good phone!
